| Photographic images are about our relationship to places we visit, people we meet along the way, and the emotion that is stirred within us from our experiences. What the camera does best is reveal and interpret our world, which leads directly to the discovery of parts of ourselves that have long been shut away. Developing our ability to see opens new doors and leads us down new and exciting pathways. Karen Schulman has 30 years experience as a professional photographic artist and over 35 years of teaching experience in both photography and other areas. Her expertise includes use of digital cameras as well as various alternative photographic processes. She will offer her inspiration and guidance for those with all levels of photographic skill. Join us in western Ireland for an opportunity to expand your personal vision, make new friends and experience a very special place through new eyes, with the guidance of an experienced teacher and guide. |

| Ireland -- a place of remarkable light, rugged natural beauty, and warm people eager to share their rich heritage of music, folklore, literature, and history. Olcan Masterson, a walking authority on the history of western Ireland, will join Karen as the guide for this trip, to share his knowledge, wisdom and love for his country and its people. Olcan has spent many years exploring the hills and back roads of the area. An accomplished musician as well, he has spread traditional Irish music all over Europe and the U.S. with his flute and tin whistle. Mostly though, he is a living embodiment of Irish charm and hospitality. He'll show you the soul and spirit of ireland as few visitors will ever experience it. You'll get a view of the land and the culture that comes with living it, not just visiting it. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| One of the best aspects of the trip is getting to know the people. You'll be welcome at gatherings in the village pubs, where local musicians come together to play traditional Irish music. A neighbor may invite you to a party, or a potter might show you around his studio. Something new always seems to happen to make each trip special and memorable. You'll get a view of the land and the culture that comes with living it, not just visiting it. |

| Our itinerary is set in the unspoiled villages, rugged ancient abbeys, broad peat lowlands and the dramatic coastline of Western Ireland. The soft pastel shades of the mountains and clouds appeal to the artist and the photographer. These natural landscapes along with the friendly people, render this Isle a place of inspirational beauty.
Our home is County Mayo, in the west of Ireland. From this base, we travel through the county, south to Connemara and north to Achill Island and Downpatrick Head. Days are spent photographing in a few of our favorite spots. These are places you could never find on your own - tiny villages, hidden beaches, ancient abbeys, and druid woods. |
